Liam has taken time out of his busy schedule to answer questions from the team at WPSS and we are sure that his answers will help inspire the next generation of WPSS stars!
WPSS – Can you describe the feeling you have at signing for such a prestigious club Sporting Lisbon?
Liam Jordan – It is the feeling of a dream that has come to life, a feeling of satisfaction but not content! It is a step closer to reaching the highest level and I have the perfect platform now to improve certain aspects now of my game and physicality. It’s very heart warming to be at Sporting Lisbon.
WPSS – What does your new life in Lisbon have in store for you now day to day?
Liam Jordan – Training twice a day with meals and gym programmed specifically for what I need and will benefit most from! There are recovery facilities available 24/7 and video rooms where we can assess our own trainings and games. I will also be learning Portuguese on site as well!
WPSS – What are you looking forward to the most as you now start your life as a professional footballer?
Liam Jordan – I’m looking forward to the attention to detail put in to me as a player by the coach, staff and club. I believe Sporting can get the best out of me and give me the tools I need to make me a complete football athlete mentally and physically! I can finally show the world who Liam Jordan is through this move.
WPSS – What has been your inspiration that has driven you to get to this point in your career?
Liam Jordan – I have never lost sight of a professional career in Football since the day I dreamt it. My inspiration has been the people I do it for namely my Mother and late Father, the coaches and support I’ve had throughout my career. The belief put in me had inspired me to not let go of my vision and ultimately I have seen it come to pass, I almost can’t describe the moment.
WPSS – What advice can you give all the young players that are in the WPSS programme and are dreaming of playing professional football?
Liam Jordan – Listen to your coaches, also work harder than the player next to you on the pitch and off the pitch whether it be shooting or speed work after training. Every little bit you do extra is the difference between being better than another player or being the same. Lastly, take criticism with your chin up and make it a positive in which you can benefit from, I’ve had negative experiences in life that could have altered my career path but I used them as fuel to my fire and I’m a better player for it today.
