3 jovens Australianos a caminho para testes na Academia

"THREE Australasian Soccer Academy players are in Portugal being trialled with one of the world’s biggest football academies.

Alusine Fofanah, of Guildford, Liam Youlley, of Parramatta, and Anthony Frangie, of Ermington, all under-15s, are on trial with Sporting Lisbon.

ASA director Tony Basha said the trio were the first Australians to train with the academy.

“The three were spotted training in England during our three-week tour,” Mr Basha said.

The boys believe the Sporting Lisbon players are the best they have ever seen, after training with Manchester City, Bury FC and Sheffield United.” The players have praised the academy that helped produce stars like Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United’s Nani, and the retired Portugal legend Luis Figo.

Basha said it was a whole new world for the players.

“They have excellent facilities and their training is different to ours,” he said.

"I have toured the world to see different styles to bring back to help the kids in the western suburbs.

“We have so many good players, but they will need somewhere to go.”

The players will stay in Portugal for another two weeks before a decision is made to keep them on."
