Michael Jackson’s unreleased album to go under the hammer next week

The rare collection of mostly unreleased songs will have a minimum bid of $50,000.

LOS ANGELES: An album containing nine unheard Michael Jackson songs will be auctioned off by New York auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll later this month.

The rare collection of mostly unreleased songs will be going under the hammer on July 19 with the minimum bid of USD 50,000.

The album, with the title ‘Bible’ handwritten on its surface, consists of 12 finished tracks, all with finished vocals, reported Rolling Stone.

The disc is in “very good condition” and in the possession of the late singer’s personal assistant “whose family was very close to Michael for many years, travelling all over the world with him.”

Organisers expect the final bid to reach USD 1 million, although the owner later will not have rights to the songs and cannot distribute or reproduce them.

Jim Morrison died in July 1971 aged 27. He was found in the bathtub of a Paris apartment. At the time, Morrison and The Doors were mid-way through the recording process of their seventh album ‘Other Voices’.

Following his death, the remaining trio – keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, continued the recording with Krieger and Manzarek sharing vocal duties.

Slash has spoken once again about the highly anticipated new Guns N’ Roses studio album.

The guitarist confirmed in May last year that new material was in the works, with his bandmember Richard Fortus checking in earlier this month to say he hoped new music from the band would emerge this year.

And in a new interview with Guitar where he was asked if he’d be willing to share any new information about the record, Slash replied: “There’s been no definitive answer on anything and I’ll just keep keep to that.

“Stuff is happening, but there are no specifics. More than anything, it’s because of the nature of the industry right now.

“It’s just like, how do you want to do this? I mean there’s material and there’s recording and there’s shit going on, but we’re not really sure what we’re doing with it right now.”

When it was pointed out that the music industry has changed a lot since the last time Guns N’ Roses released an album, Slash responded: “Yeah! And there’s a handful people who said, ’Make a record and go old school.’ And there’s a handful of people that are like, ’We don’t even know what buying a record is any more!’”
