After buying Van Wolfswinkel, I'd be hesitant to get Bas Dost. He's good, and talented, but more a tall physical striker than a technically gifted one, but he does have vision. That said, he'll probably be quite the bargain aswell.



I reckon the manager is trying to "Europeanise" the team. Portuguese football relies heavily on south american players (look at Benfica, aka, the pigs, and Porto, aka, the corrupts).

I also think that a more european style of play might be good for Sporting.

Well, I have to admit that buying players from the Dutch league is fairly smart right now. Because most clubs are having financial issues, alot of players will be let go for fairly cheap. And I think Dutch players especially won't have problems settling in or adjusting.

And it's like a thing at Sporting. We've had the bulgarian thing with Balakov and Iordanov (1991), we've had the serbian-montenegro thing with Purovic, Stojkovic and Vukcevic (2007) and now it's seems we have a new thing with players from the Netherlands. Rir Muito Alto I think it's a good policy though, I mean, it's good when it comes to language and stuff, but I don't know if they do it on purpose or if it's something at random.

O avançado holandês Bas Dost, que já chegou a ser apontado como alvo do interesse do Sporting, garante que não tem em mente transferir-se para o estrangeiro, preferindo manter-se no seu país.

«Não estou a pensar ir para o estrangeiro», vincou o jogador. «Ouvi dizer muita coisa, mas prefiro ficar na Holanda», esclareceu ainda.

Com 22 anos, Bas Dost disse ainda que o seu objectivo é continuar a melhorar e a marcar golos, de forma a poder ajudar o Heerenveen da melhor forma. Daí também não pensar mudar para um clube com maior expressão no seu país, como Feyenoord ou Ajax, conforme tem sido noticiado
