For me personally it was never about a club being bigger or better. I've never said that Dutch clubs and the Dutch league are better than Portuguese for instance, in fact I've always said the opposite since I joined this forum. For me it's about perspective and appeal. The media here is all about the Dutch League, Bundesliga, Premier League and La Liga. Most top players from around here dream of playing at a big Dutch clubs like Ajax, to then after that move on to a top club in one of those big leagues. The Portuguese league doesn't get any exposure here at all. I imagine for people from Spain, Portugal and South America it's the opposite. From the top of my head I know 5 Portuguese clubs, and untill Schaars and Van Wolfswinkel had joined your club I never had seen any Portuguese league games. And I'm a die hard football fan and watch alot of foreign football. But the average Dutch football fan doesn't know who plays in your team, besides Van Wolfswinkel and Schaars. And that's not because your team isn't good, obviously. But every Dutch fan knows who plays at Tottenham, Arsenal etc. I guess what I just am trying to explain is that the perspective on this of someone from around here, is completely different from someone from around there. Don't get me wrong, people here know that there are 3 very good Portuguese teams. But they don't grow up dreaming of playing for a Portuguese team, just like no Portuguese will grow up dreaming of playing for a Dutch team.

Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem have completed the signing of Mike Havenaar on a three-and-a-half year contract. The 24-year-old will link up with his new side on 3rd January on a free transfer from Ventforet Kofu.
